The education is based on the conception of the human being developed by Rudolf Steiner. Lectures and courses are given by permanent as well as by visiting teachers.

The timetable is composed of 1 to 3 weeks periods devoted to studies of specific topics, as well as a regular weekly curriculum which includes a variety of art and craft activities – sculpture, painting, wood and metalwork, theatre, choir, bothmer gymnastics, and the new art of movement eurythmy.

The year at the centre is composed of 30 weeks of lessons spaced over 3 terms from early October to the end of June.

Who comes to the foyer and why ?

Since its first year in the Bourbonnais area in 1980, the Foyer Michaël has welcomed each year around 25 students, a third of which are foreigners of 18 different nationalities.

Each age group has a different motivation :

  • at 20, one looks for a professional direction
  • at 25 to 30, a more thorough engagement in day to day practical life or a reorientation.
  • at 35 and over, a better understanding of oneself and a more thorough research of R. Steiner's work.

After their year at the Foyer, some students return to their former jobs with new and fresh determination. Amongst those who choose a new orientation, many go towards Waldorf education (32%), and curative education (19%), others follow up with artistic training (24% with half of them going into eurythmy). Others go towards biodynamic agriculture (10%), whilst others undertake university studies (11%).
